Jim Jack

London based Scot Jim Jack combines the attention to detail of a craftsman with the enquiring mind of an artist, often working on several pieces at once, each at a different stage of their development.

Multiple layers of wood laminate or corrugated card are sawn and shaped, glued and fixed with wooden dowels; turned and manipulated, carved, ground and sanded down. Surfaces and textures add further dimensions, while the natural beauty and depth of colour of the material is brought to life with a simple finishing of wax.”

Jim included several pieces in the Quarrylab ‘SEE HERE’ exhibition at Old Neale’s Auction House in Nottingham in June / July 2018.
