Maia Von Lekow
The fantastically talented Maia von Lekow from Nairobi visited Quarry in 2015 with her partner, film maker Chris King, and performed a solo set at New Art Exchange as part of her mini UK tour. Maia brings a dynamic new color to Kenya’s contemporary musical landscape. Born and raised in Nairobi to a German/Italian mother and Kenyan father, Maia’s unique heritage is combined into a fresh sound weaving jazz, funk, folk & blues all sprinkled with swahili spice. Maia is touring USA in May and June 2016.
